The Circling Out of Sacred Hospitality

Posted on

Dear Friends,

This is retreat season here at Mercy by the Sea. We are welcoming retreatants almost every week now into September. We get more requests for retreats than we have the space to accommodate. It is inspiring and moving to think of so many people seeking time and space to pray, to refresh soul and body, and to sink more deeply into their relationship with the Divine.

In the mornings, the staff meets to review what’s needed and get ready for our guests. We often start with silent prayer, holding the retreatants and directors and opening our hearts to receive their prayer. There is a sacredness in offering hospitality for the spiritual seeker. That sacred call is held not only by the staff, but in the land here, the water, the food, and even the walls of the building – all is soaked in the years of prayer that have been offered. I imagine that circling out from Mercy by the Sea and enfolding the multitude of people and places that seek God, that seek peace and healing as well.

It is a precious gift to be part of this work and we thank each of you who came to the June 25th Gathering and continue to support us in so many ways. It gives great encouragement to us in the day to day of offering sacred hospitality.

With Mercy,
